01

The starting question

How can a restaurant system keep working when the internet is slow or unavailable?

Many restaurant systems assume a stable connection. Real restaurants may face temporary outages, busy service periods and several devices working at once. Menus and prices also change, while staff need the system to respond immediately.

A temporary internet problem should not stop a restaurant from serving customers. That practical question is shaping the work from the beginning.

02 · Initial product direction

Designed for real restaurant conditions

Offline-first operation is part of the initial product scope. Essential operations are being designed to continue locally when the connection to the central platform is interrupted, with safe synchronisation when the connection returns.

  • Local data storage and order processing
  • Multiple devices and conflict handling
  • Recovery after network interruptions
  • Synchronisation when the connection returns

03

Flexible operations

More than a simple menu system

Restaurants have different menus, set meals, pricing rules and sales channels. The challenge is to make the system powerful enough for real business needs while keeping it simple enough for staff to use every day.

04 · Development journey

Building the platform step by step

01

Understanding the operating problem

Studying menus, set meals, pricing, orders and daily operations.

02

Building the platform foundation

Creating shared structures for products, menus, restaurant modes and workflows.

03

Developing flexible pricing

Designing rules for combinations, branches, time periods and sales channels.

04

Planning offline-first operation

Designing continuity during interruptions and safe synchronisation afterwards.

05

Refining through realistic scenarios

Testing practical restaurant situations as the project develops.

05 · Current status

Where the project stands today

Development has started. The initial work includes the platform foundation, flexible menu structures and a pricing engine for complex restaurant scenarios. These capabilities are being refined and tested as the project continues.

06 · Long-term vision

The future vision: an AI-powered autonomous restaurant operating platform

These AI-powered features require additional funding and are part of the future roadmap, not completed functionality.

  • AI-assisted reports and product analysis
  • Demand and stock forecasting
  • Operational recommendations and early warnings
  • Selected automated workflows and integrations

The goal is to help restaurant owners understand what is happening, decide what to do next and automate selected routine tasks.

07 · An active journey

Built step by step

Capatto Restaurant is not yet a completed product or finished case study. It is an active project being developed step by step. The current focus is a reliable, flexible and offline-first restaurant platform, with room to grow towards increasingly intelligent operations.
